02Overview

Certified, insured, and answerable for the result

Power Carpet Cleaning has been an IICRC Certified firm since it opened in 1995, and every crew that enters a building is licensed, bonded and insured. Power Carpet Cleaning is accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

We clean to Green Seal procedures using Carpet & Rug Institute Seal of Approval products. That is a documented standard with a published test method behind it, not a word like “eco-friendly” that anyone may print. The same chemistry is safe around children and pets, which matters as much in a daycare or a medical suite as it does in a home.

03Overview

The mills send us to inspect their own work

Four carpet mills know us by name: Brintons US Axminster, Mohawk Industries, Masland Contract and Milliken.

They do not simply sell to us. They send us to inspect flooring claims and carry out warranty work on their behalf — which is not something a manufacturer hands to a contractor it merely does business with. When a mill needs to know why a carpet failed, we are who they ask.

That relationship is also why we see new fiber systems and new machines before they reach the market, and why the method we bring to your building is the method the manufacturer actually specifies rather than the one our equipment happens to suit.

04Overview

How long your floor is out of service

Low-moisture encapsulation returns carpet to light foot traffic in 2 to 4 hours. Hot-water extraction is the deeper clean and takes longer, so the choice between them is usually driven by how long the space can be out of service rather than by the carpet itself.

For an office that has to open at eight, or a corridor that never truly closes, that difference decides the schedule. We will tell you which method your floor needs and what it costs you in downtime before you book anything.

The buildings we work in

Most of our work is in buildings that cannot simply close while the floor dries.

06Cleaning Schedule

How often, by how dirty

The schedule we work to, from our own maintenance guide. It answers the question every facility manager asks first, and it answers it before anyone quotes you: soiling level sets the frequency, and frequency sets the cost.

Recommended carpet cleaning frequency by soiling level
Soiling levelSpot removalVacuum traffic lanesFull vacuumInterim cleaningRestorative cleaning

MediumDailyDailyEvery 2–3 days3–6 months6–12 months
HeavyDailyDailyDaily1–3 months4–12 months
Very heavyDailyTwice dailyDailyEvery month1–4 months

Soiling level is judged on site — entrance proximity, traffic volume, whether the building takes sand off a beach. Two properties of the same square footage rarely sit on the same row.

07How We Work

The plant we run, by name.

  • 01

    Hydro-Force pile lifter

Pulls embedded dry sand out of the pile and stands the fibre back up. In beachfront hotels and oceanfront towers, sand is the abrasive quietly cutting the carpet apart.

  • 02

    Cimex Cyclone

Three counter-rotating heads, torqueless, 19-inch path. The workhorse for encapsulation across large contiguous floors.

  • 03

    Pro Caps and Orbot

Cylindrical counter-rotating brush and oscillating pad. Both agitate the nap from both sides in areas too congested for a planetary machine.

  • 04

    Windsor Chariot iExtract

Ride-on extraction for restorative work at hall and concourse scale, where a wand would still be running at opening time.

The whole system, in four pages

Everything above is how we actually run a commercial floor. It is written down, it has been printed, and you can hand it to whoever signs off the budget.

The guide sets out all four protocols with the equipment and dilutions each one uses — the vacuum specification, bi-weekly pile lifting in two directions, encapsulation at four ounces per gallon, and the spotting procedures for the stains that do not come out with the cleaning process.

It is the same document we leave with facilities teams we train. Download the Commercial Carpet Maintenance Procedures Guide (PDF, 1.2 MB).

Yes. We are fully licensed, bonded and insured, and we work to port-call schedules on staterooms, public areas and crew spaces.
